Welcome

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society is a not for profit organization located in Verplanck, New York. It was established in 1922 by a handful of Italian immigrants from Calabria, Italy, most of whom worked at the quarry in Verplanck. The Mt.Carmel Society has grown from that tiny group of men to a record number one hundred thirty-five members in 2011. We also have an active Ladies Auxiliary with 30+ members.

Our mission is to support our community and neighbors through our donations and charitable work with various organizations while keeping the Italian tradition alive. Throughout the year the Mt. Carmel Society holds several events such as Las Vegas Night, our Annual Chubby Capicotti Memorial Gold Outing, dinners, clambakes, picnics and our annual Italian Feast. The Feast is our main source of funding and we look forward to hosting it every year. We have the distinction of being the longest running fair in the Hudson Valley, this being our 89th Feast.

We are in the midst of a huge renovation project to our building which will double its size and upgrade and modernize our facility to be completely handicapped accessible.

If you are interested in becoming a member or making a donation to the Mt. Carmel Society please see our contact page for more information.
